How They Work

Home energy audits, also called home energy assessments or surveys, provide a big picture view of a home’s energy consumption. An energy audit can help residents understand how much energy their home uses, where their home may be using energy inefficiently and which problem areas and fixes should be prioritized to save energy, reduced energy costs and improve home comfort. A professional home energy audit should be the first step before making energy-saving home improvements, as well as before adding any renewable energy systems to a home. What Products Are Eligible?

To be eligible for the federal tax credit, the home energy audit and report must be conducted by and prepared by a certified home energy auditor. Find a certified home energy auditor here.

Important Dates

The federal tax credits are available for products purchased and installed between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032. Duquesne Light’s Residential Comprehensive Audit program ends May 31, 2026, or earlier if program funding is depleted.
